The Binomial Cube introduces abstract maths concept to primary age children without them even knowing it! Such early sensorial experience with the cube inspires them again in elementary when they learn about cubing for algebra.  Children in our class are not expected to understand or even be exposed to the algebraic formula that the cube expresses, but are rather just “absorbing” the concepts and building an enjoyment of expressing and discovering mathematical concepts.

We focus on the patterns and orders of the blocks, and making connections as to the relationships between the different cubes: dimension, color, and shape. It is a puzzle,  with a complex mathematical concepts behind it.

Our children enjoyed watching the Maryland Fleet Week and Air show practice from the playground dome.

It was very LOUD!!!! 

Miss Han: Yes, it is as loud as thunder, because it is the “Thunderbird” that performed in the show!!

Weaving, as part of the work on the Practical Life shelves, is meant to help children to develop fine motor skills and concentration, while building self-confidence with successful experiences.

In our primary class, we break down the complicated weaving process into simple steps  to help our children master the weaving concept, and thus ensuring a successful experience.

First, the child learn to weave over and under using ribbons in a metal grid. This introduced the “over and under” weaving concept.

Then, the child weave the plastic strips in a laminated card base to practice the skill.

Now, they are ready for exciting weaving project. Here is the first one – potholder!!

TLM’s students showed the audience at the Chinese Bridge Language Completion how to write Chinese characters with our body, and sang a Tang Poem “Goose Goose Goose”. Although we were the youngest performers on the stage, our team did an excellent job and won the third place award, for a very good performance!! Hooray!!!!
